MAKING TILES FOR OUR 50th ANNIVERSARY

July AT ST. FRANCIS EPISCOPAL CHURCH

WEDNESDAY, July 2 - 7:00pm - Ice Cream Social

THURSDAY, July 3 - 10:00am - HOLY EUCHARIST with HEALING SERVICE and UNCTION.
We invite you to come and join us both in prayer as well as in sacrament.

WEDNESDAYS - 6:00pm - CONTEMPLATIVE HOLY COMMUNION
All my hope comes from God, who alone is my rock, my stronghold and my salvation. Such is the basis and depth of contemplative prayer. It is prayer that draws us deep into the heart of God. At this service we will enter into the deep waters of contem;lation. With scripture, silence and simple repetitive chants, we will engage God, the One who breathes in us. Come and join us for a mid-week breath and a taste of the Kingdom in contemplation and Holy Communion.

HELP, HELP, HELP

We're asking for your assistance in recovering information contained in the church records which were vandalized in the 1990's. We need info on baptisms, confirmations, weddings, and burials, as well as memorials and gifts given to St. Francis. We need names, dates, honorees, anything else you might recall. Photos of baptisms, confirmations, weddings and church activities (with names and dates on the back) would be greatly appreciated. Following each service through

LOOKING AHEAD

August 3-23, 2008 - OUTREACH SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE - Our school is Smith Elementary, the school behind the church. They are usually in need of every thing, but most often are these:
#2 pencils, wide-ruled paper, brads, wide-ruled spiral notebooks, tissues, folders with pockets, children's underwear and 24 count crayons.
If you would like to give a check or cash donation, that would be fine also. Checks should be made out to the church with Outreach school supplies written on the bottom, and can be placed in the Sunday morning alms basin or mailed to the office.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4-5, 2008 - Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of St. Francis Episcopal Church!
Mark your calendar for this special event.

HELP WANTED

CALLING FOR ACOLYTES!

All those age 9-99 are invited to join the corps of St. Francis acolytes. These vital ministers assist with liturgy, carrying the cross and torches and setting the table for Holy Eucharist.

GREETER AND USHER HELP NEEDED!

Please volunteer to be a greeter or an usher(or both) for either the 8:00am or 10:30am service on Sundays. There is an immediate need for two greeters at the 8:00am service and for one greeter at the 10:30am service. Also needed immediately are two ushers for the 10:00am service and three ushers for the 10:30am service. If you have a desire to serve in either of these ministries, please contact Russell Drane at 361-485-1245.

Greeter duties include welcoming visitors and parishioners to the Sunday service. Following the service dismissal, greeters accompany visitors to the Parish Hall for coffee and introduce them to parishioners. Greeters should be in the narthex ten minutes prior to service time

Usher duties include maintaining comfortable climate in the sanctuary, distributing bulletins, ringing the bell, counting attendees for the service, passing the offering plates, assisting communicants at the altar and "straightening up" the sanctuary area after the service. Ushers must be in the narthex fifteen minutes prior to service time.

SAVE A TREE, SAVE THE WORLD - we have begun recycling the paper from the office. You can help by placing your Sunday bulletins, announcements, etc. in the basket provided in the Narthex. Shawn Rainey has volunteered to deliver our paper to the Recycling Center. A big thank you to Shawn for providing this service.

CHOIR

The CHOIR has some empty choir robes, extra gloves and bells as well as filing cabinets full of wonderful music. All are welcome to join one or both of these fine choirs. Come and serve through the music ministry. Contact Lydia Chapman for more information.
